The Greater Peoria area is served by one wastewater treatment plant, which is located on Darst Street.
The treatment plant was built in the late 1920s and early 1930s. While modifications and maintenance to the plant have occurred over the years, including installation of a modern enhanced biological phosphorous removal process and a full supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, the mere age of the plant alone will require an investment in a multi-year rehabilitation.
The Treatment Plant Game Plan:
Complete phase I study of nitrification/denitrification study to replace 1970's vintage rotating biological contactors, and engage top industrial customers to determine future needs in completing the study
Complete phase I study of biosolids dewatering equipment to replace existing centrifuge technology
Utilize advanced asset management techniques by standing up computerized maintenance management system
Based on output from the advanced asset management system, comprehensive analytics on entirety of assets to refine mid-term and long-term capital priorities
Continue innovation partnerships with private industry and academia
