Collection System Rehabilitation

Estimated 20-Year Capital Investment: $135M

Picture
GPSD currently owns over 500 miles of sewer pipe.  All of the neighborhood sewers GPSD owns are considered separate sewers, as opposed to combined sewers.

Many years ago, GPSD implemented a "75-year sewer rehabilitation" goal, wherein GPSD inspects and, if necessary, lines neighborhood sewers at a base average remaining life of 75 years.  Since implementation of the program, GPSD has invested nearly $60 million into the system, giving GPSD a head start on remaining rehabilitation.

The Collection System Rehabilitation Game Plan:
  • Enhance our Capacity, Management, Operation, and Maintenance (CMOM) plan, and continue to televise every neighborhood sewers as needed
  • Continue existing sewer pipe lining planning and construction
  • Implement manhole rehabilitation planning and construction
  • Identify and execute on sewer pipe replacement planning and construction
  • Continue erosion control measures to protect GPSD sewer infrastructure
  • Implement advanced analytics tools in GIS system to better identify higher risk sewers
